- The smell of rotten eggs or sulphur: Natural gas and LPG are both odourless on their own, so a strong sulphur or rotten egg smell is the safety odorant that has been added to warn you of a leak. Turn off the gas at the meter or bottle, open windows, get everyone outside and call a licensed gas fitter straight away. Do not flick switches or light anything.
- A yellow or orange flame on the cooktop: A healthy gas flame burns clean blue. If yours is burning yellow, orange or flickering, the appliance is not getting the right air to gas mix, which can produce carbon monoxide. The burner needs servicing or, in some cases, replacing.

How often should gas appliances be serviced?

Can you convert my kitchen from electric to gas, or gas to electric?
Yes, both. Going to gas means running and sizing a new line to the appliance point and making good afterwards. Going to electric means safely decommissioning and capping the gas supply. We will quote either, and we will be straight with you about the running cost difference for your household rather than just the install price.
